Kentucky Psychological Foundation's Equity in Action
Professional and Student Development Award

The Kentucky Psychological Foundation believes in the power of diversity and the importance of supporting Kentucky psychologists, especially those from marginalized communities. The Equity in Action Professional Development and Student Development Awards (formerly known as the Multicultural Awards) are designed to help aspiring and current psychology professionals from historically underrepresented groups access crucial professional development opportunities. By providing financial support for initiatives, training, conferences, events, or membership dues to national professional organizations, we aim to empower these individuals to achieve their fullest potential and bring their invaluable perspectives to the field of Kentucky psychology.

Application Requirements and Criteria:

Qualified applicants are psychologists or current psychology students working, living, or enrolled in a University or college in Kentucky. We strongly encourage applications from individuals who embody identities historically excluded from psychology training, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color; people living with disabilities; LGBTQIA+ individuals; and neurodivergent individuals. These voices are essential to creating a more inclusive and empathetic mental health care environment.

How to Apply:

Candidates must submit their current CV along with a heartfelt letter of interest. This letter should detail how the applicant intends to use the award funding and the specific amount they are requesting (up to $1,000 for professionals and $500 for students). We want to hear about your dreams, your plans, and how this award can help you break down barriers and make a significant impact in the field of psychology.

Impact Reporting:

Winners are required to submit a brief letter explaining how the funds were utilized and how they contributed to the goals stated in their application within 1 year of receiving the award. This reflection helps us understand the profound difference the award has made in your professional journey and allows us to share your inspiring success stories with our community.

By supporting the professional growth of psychologists and psychology students from diverse backgrounds, we are investing in individual futures and the future of psychology itself. Together, we can build a field that truly represents and serves everyone, making psychology a brighter, more inclusive place for all.
